A lot of people love hearing music while on the go. With the birth of mp3 players, the experience have been more enjoyable and convenient. But the technology can also be very confusing for some. Apple products such as Ipods and Iphones need to be connected to the computer or internet before music can be played. Here is a quick guide to make transferring music a breeze.
You will first have to download the latest Itunes program. It allows quick access to both your device and transferring music from your PC. Go to this link to download Itunes: Itunes
Install it to your computer then run the program. Only plug your device after Itunes have been opened, so it can find your player automatically.
Now you may run you Music CDs into the computer or purchase them from the internet. On the Itunes window, click file > add file to library. Then locate the file you have downloaded or the CD in the windows explorer. Click okay and it will now be added to the Itunes list. Click on your device listed on the panel and start syncing your songs.
You may also find other important tips on managing your songs in the Itunes how to page found here: Itunes how to page.
Don't forget to download the latest updates to make your music listening experience a lot better.

Notebooks versus Laptops
Writing is one of my passions. But getting everything done in pen and paper can be pretty tiring and counter progressive. So I've decided to buy a notebook so that every thought and idea can be typed flawlessly and I can finally get some work done.
The first thing I noticed, and I'm sure anyone who just recently bought their notebook felt this as well, is the very small display which will make your head step one feet closer to the LCD screen. It would have not been the case if I bought a laptop. But when it comes to writing, programs such as windows word come with features that can enlarge your fonts relieving the stress from your squinting eyes.
Notebooks in a sense have their specific advantages over laptops. One of the most obvious reasons is portability. No one would be dedicated enough to carry a 6 pound device just to view their e-mail. And it is certainly impractical to use it as a medium to store data so that you can continue your work at home. This is where notebooks come to the rescue. Not only are they so lightweight you cannot even notice you are carrying one, they can also carry more than basic programs that most people need out of their devices. Imagine yourself writing and uploading stuff out of your trekking experience in real time. Or talking to clients, friends and family while you are sipping coffee and relaxing outdoors. This would be quite difficult if you use a bulky laptop. You'd end up with coffee on your clothes instead.
Another thing that surprised me is the keyboard. I was anticipating having a hard time getting used to the keys but the size was actually very close to the standard desktop keys. The only difference was the absence of the numerical keys. I am no accountant nor data entry specialist therefore found myself not missing it.
But the real reason I bought this is for lessening my daily energy consumption. Working all day in front of a computer with only using one or two programs can give you a headache when the bill comes knocking. Using a notebook eliminates a lot of needles consumption and with only 20 watts required to operate, it's like turning on a desk light or a small fan. Try using one of these babies for most of your computer related work rather than your standard desktop and you'll see the difference in a month.
Laptops on the other hand can be a powerhouse of wondrous things. You must opt for one if using multiple programs at a time is your cup of tea. I have tried opening 20 internet pages on my notebook, 3 programs and both yahoo messenger and skype. It handled it surprisingly well, but one high graphic program or game and the device will turtle down on you. So if you are a graphics designer, a hardcore gamer, or someone that needs a dozen programs working on the background while you work on a dozen more upfront, then a powerful laptop is the way to go.
Picking one over the other is a matter of analyzing one's need. Try to list down (at least in your mind) what you are going to do with the device and if its features is enough to satisfy your needs. It would be a waste of both time and money if something bought is also something hardly used. I for one made a good choice opting on this notebook. I bid you good luck on your purchase and feel free to comment and express your reactions below.

Best Free Antivirus on the Net
Anyone using the internet or connected to a network of computers is in constant threat from viruses. These stealthy and unwanted files will creep up to your system and hampers its performance to a point that it's affecting certain programs that you are using. It may slow down startup which can be menacing for someone who wants to get to work at the fastest possible time.
Although purchased anti-viruses have a large list of dodgy programs it can safely remove, free for all software are also available for those that would like to protect their computer with only their web searching skills. Tons of sites have their own pick when it comes to these sorts of software. Although some are very much trusted by the web community, some might give you an ounce of headache instead of finding the solution you are hoping for.
Here are few programs that I have personally used and would recommend to others. You may see these featured in majorgeeks.com and received good reviews from their editors. Unless you like viewing the blue screen of death on your PC I suggest giving these anti viruses a try. You can see the description for each in the Major links provided.

2. BHODemon
Protects you from unknown Browser Helper Objects (BHOs)

3. Spyware Doctor - Starter Edition 5.1.0.273
Download Locations:
Major Geeks website

The next two are the ones I am currently using. They are quite fast in finding threats and have updates to scan new viruses:
4. SUPERAntiSpyware
Download Locations:
Major Geeks website

5. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Of course you do not have to install all these just to make sure no virus gets through. But it would be a good idea to make a run through on each one when you are having problems with your system. Please comment and stay tuned for the next posts.

Read the President's speech in full text
For those who would like to make an in depth analysis of the speech made by Pnoy earlier today. Here are some websites who's owners have fervently updated their blogs to provide readers the fully transcribed speech made by president Aquino. I personally thank these people for their fast input and unbelievable passion and love for our country.

President's Sona Over; Reactions Pouring In
It was a busy Monday morning for cabinet members, congressmen and senators that took part on the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) given by the newly elected President Ninoy "Noynoy or Pnoy" Aquino. The speech started quite late in the afternoon and luckily for me, who just came home from a long trip, to have witnessed the live telecast exactly at the part when the president takes center stage and not having to watch the seemingly endless reports before the event.
The speech was filled with revelations and figures that the Filipino people never expected to hear. It is a straightforward approach to the problems and not even a sentence contained any unrealistic promises that previous Addresses seemed to be abundant with. He tackled the excessive spending of the previous administration and how it crippled the government budget and is now incapable of funding operations for crisis management.
Although a lot of positive feedback was said after the speech, there were negative comments as well especially from those who were involved in the issues. I just wished he included information technology and how it can help in making his visions come true. A lot of people who work through the internet and other related fields will definitely like some geeky comments come out from their respected leader.
By the end of the day, we can expect a lot of tweets and blogs rush in from different parts of the country and all eyes are focused on the man of the hour.
How about you? What do you think about the president's speech. Share your insights and comment. See you in my next post!

Hello People of the Web; I come in peace
The world is constantly changing. People are always in need of information and the more they know, the better equipped they will be in the very competitive field they work in. What better source to get unbiased and reliable bits of knowledge than the internet. Even with the annoying spams and viruses that always try to crawl into your computer, it still beats going to the library and browsing hundreds of books just to find a line or two or even just a word that the mind failed to remember.
When it comes to news, gossips and other fresh new trends, the internet is always a step ahead compared to other sources. More than often, internet "is" the news, because celebrities and other people pour their hearts in it for everyone else to see. News can range from very informative, to downright shocking. So the net is actually a double edged sword when it comes to dissemination of information. It can make or break people depending on how they use the various data readily accessible with just a click of a button.
I have made this blog to create a small but very informative place for people that wants to dive into the tech field and the world wide web. Trying to keep in tune with the latest gadgets and places in the web that are very interesting. Even if some of my blogs will be focused for Filipinos techies, this blog is for everyone that loves technology and would like to get updates without having to spend hours looking on the net. Hope you stay with me on this venture and watch out for my incoming posts.
